1970 PORSCHE 911 Targa Brake Warning Light

    Hi guys,

I'm new on this forum. My name is Julian and I'm a classic cars French mechanic. Porsche are not my cup of tea but the one one which I'm currently working on is friend's one so !

Since a couple of days, the handbrake warning light is permanently on. I looked at the wiring diagram and saw that there is a Parking Brake Contact (located at the base of the handbrake lever I guess) and a Brake Warning Light Switch for the USA ones (that's the case). May you please tell me where this switch is located ?

    Thanks,

    Julian

The part that you show is the "Parking Brake Contact" (#38 on my wiring diagram) or the "Brake Warning Light Switch" (#40) ?

sorry, misunderstood your request. The first photo is the contact under the handbrake housing. The other switch that can set off the warning light is located on the master cylinder

    Hello,

Thanks again. Are you sure that this master cylinder switch is concerned by the parking warning light at the dashboard (between the oil temperature and the oil pressure) ? Here is the wiring diagram that I have and it seems that there are 2 "switches" concerned by this light (#38 and #40)...

Come on guys !! No one knows where is the #40 item called "Brake Warning Light Switch" ?!? My "Parking Brake Contact" (item #38 on the wiring diagram) is fed by only one brown and yellow wire. The wiring diagram represents a second wire (yellow and red). Any reason why please ?

#40 is the one on the master cylinder, there are no other switches. What happens when you unplug it,,,,does the light go out? Since the car didn't always do this was anything done before this,,,like bleeding brakes.

Edmayo, you're right, the symptom appeared since the brake circuit was bleeded... However, my brake pedal is firm and the brakes look working properly ! Should I unplug it and then re-plug it ?

Push the little button in the center of the master cylinder switch.
