    What struts do I have, 1970 911T

Just bought this 1970 911T, had been built up in the 80s as a poor man's S. Bilsteins in back, Konis in front, has alum S calipers, Konis have 911 741 079 16 on them, apparent date 34 74. Car porpoises a bit and bottoms in front on road that doesn't seem that rough. I'm tempted to first see what the Koni adjustment is, then firm some. But I'm wondering if, with the S calipers, these are not normal 1970 T struts? Thanks for any info.

A "normal" T strut would have been a Boge with 3" caliper spacing. As you indicated these were probably done by the previous owner, not uncommon.

So are these "S" struts in that sense, for the larger caliper bolt spacing? Will a normal Koni insert fit if that's what I end up needing to replace?
    Thank you.

Do you have aluminum S calipers with a 3.5 inch bolt space to mount to the strut? If so you have an S strut if 74. Maybe E or S if 69 to 73. Or do you have cast iron 67S type calipers with a 3.0 spacing? Or possibly an Alfa aluminum 3.0 Brembo. A picture of your strut and calipers mounted to the strut would be helpful.

Those struts should be from a 74S. They would have a pin and a 13mm nut on the other end to hold them to the ball joint. A nice upgrade. Please take a picture of the bottom of the strut showing the connection to the ball joint to confirm. I'm not a fan of S calipers, though. Ugly, cast iron A calipers work 100% better. Clean up the fancy aluminum calipers and display them on your coffee table. Use a set of A calipers (from a 77 thru 83 911) to, actually, stop your car.
