‘72 2.5 ST (SR) enlarged oil tank details needed

I understand that the ‘72 2.5 S (M491 SR) has an enlarged oil tank (11 litres?) and have found these photos of it:

but am not expecting to be able to find an original one anywhere. Accordingly I have bought a refurbished ‘72 S tank with a view to converting it in the same way as the factory would have done in period.

Does anyone have any technical details such as dimensions, fittings (I am assuming M30?), internal baffles etc that they could share with me, or better still does anyone have one which they would be prepared to loan to me while we make an exact copy of it please?

Hope someone can help me with yet another aspect of this very challenging project!

    Thanks.

I doubt, that this part was ever an original one or has a Porsche Part#, but willing to learn.
I own one of the rare ST cars from 72, my car has many strange parts, some from the early days some from the several upgrades. The oil tank is still the first one and is stock, same as all the T/E/S.

You’re quite right, no part number listed for this in the Nov’71 Competition Parts List, or indeed the extended frame for the twin CDI boxes, or the left-hand front oil cooler plumbing, or the chassis strengthening plates, or the Bosch twin CDI cut-off switches etc etc.

I do believe if the Sports Department didn’t have the required part to hand, they either went looking in the parts department for something suitable from years gone by or they custom fabricated it to suit their needs.

Would be very interested to learn more about your car if its a genuine ‘72 M491 though
    - will send you a PM.
