A very big advantage with liquid fuels, is a known and reliable delivery, instead of put into a situation where you're sweating out thousands of motorists converging to a spot, where the power grid browns out during a heat wave or other reason, as the folks at electric stations waving their hands in the air explaining.. they "don't really know" when it will be resolved as you sit in the Ozarks or elsewhere, waiting for your batteries to 'function' again. Liquid fuel being brought in, able to be dispensed easily on the side of the road, fetched in a container from a station, into your tank in under 2 minutes, is miles better in an emergency especially.

I read about this when I was very young and it taught me two important lessons.

At one time, when horses and wagons were the primary mode of transportation, a huge concern was that it was not sustainable. After a while it would be impossible to clean up and dispose of the vast amounts of horse manure.

    Lessons learned?

    (1) Never underestimate technological advancement.
    (2) Be careful about extrapolating the present indefinitely into the future (see #1).

    Cheers,
