I did see some on ebay yesterday and it was surprising to see the market for them. I guess I will have to figure out whether I should have it refurbished or not before I sell it.
Got a bore scope and took a look at the pistons. The previous owner thought it was brought up to a 2.2L. My knowledge is limited but it looks like a 68S piston to me. Let me know what yall think. There are some numbers but the are hard to make out. I think the last one is a '5'

A wonderful car you have there!
Here is a picture of a piston from a -68 S with a better resolution. I think they look very similar. Number "5" is punched into the top of the piston.

We are headed out to the Hill Country Rallye this weekend. I will be in the yellow 74 Carrera targa and my dad will be in a green 74 Carrera targa. If you see us say Hello!
We’ve been making a bit of progress over the last few weeks. Last night we got the carbs, intake manifolds, and shroud off. The carbs will go up to Werks 11 to get cleaned and rebuild. I don’t think there is any shaft play in them but maybe someone can school me on how to know for sure. We also identified why the brakes weren’t working so all new lines and caliper rebuilds are on the list. We also put on a set of tires that aren’t dry rotted. I ordered some parts that will arrive this week and this weekend some of them will start going into the car. I am learning a lot and starting to get a full picture of what will be required to get it started and driving. I am really enjoying the simplicity of the car.
Great car and thread Drew !! We just love these resurrection projects !! Looking forward to updates.

Great update. Making good progress. I also grabbed a 67/68 Florida Plate and am hoping to register it. Luckily Black too.
