Thread: Exhaust question

    Exhaust question

I am contemplating the exhaust for my '69E, which will need replacing.

I have thick flange SSI heat exchangers on my '84 3.2. Will these be correct for a '69 E?

Side question: If I use the SSIs from the '84, I will want to restore the '84 back to original, and I would need to change the oil return line, that is an early version now. Is the line #911 107 741 14 the correct one the change back to original setup?

Wrong choice to try thick flange SSI. All exhaust studs would need replacement. 1/2 would break off and the other 1/2 would pull the threads in the heads. SSI require oil crossover pipe at the bellhousing. Original exhaust would use oil pipe that goes rearward and crosses over by the muffler.

Pelican says NLA. There should be tons of that oil pipe out there as most folks are going the other way.

    Good to know, thank you.
Exhaust studs are coming out most likely, engine hasn't run in about 20 years and is.... tired.

I'll swap the 3.2 exhaust anyway, and hold on to the SSIs, pending the 2.0 engine rebuild.

"Original exhaust would use oil pipe that goes rearward and crosses over by the muffler." Dos thath pipe have this number: 911 107 741 14 ?
