Gasket/Seal Ring For Oil Pressure Sensor On 2.2 Litre (1970)

    Hello to All

Is there any type of seal/crush washer between #59 (pressure transmitter) & #61 (reducing socket) on a 2.2L engine? Given the notoriety of the location of these particular parts, it seems somewhat counter-intuitive there not be a gasket or seal washer required as this “snip” from the PET appears to indicate. If in anyone's experience it is advisable to install such an item - any suggestions are most welcome.

Also when re-installing the transmitter, how much ’torque’ (a subjective value in this case) is required to ensure a proper seal between the components? The “torque wrench” in my wrist is of dubious accuracy so any suggestions to ‘ball-park’ a reasonable amount of torque or 'a tightness' value will be most appreciated.

    Thanks & Cheers

If memory serves the sending unit comes with a washer on it, but if not just use a normal aluminum sealing ring. As to the torque I have no idea, its a feel you have when you've done this for 60 years. I would say its the tightening force you can get with a normal end wrench. You don't need a 3 ft. lever!

Some sending units need a sealing washer , some have a tapered thread .
