10,000 RPM Tach/Rev Counter - What car is this for?

This 10,000 rpm Tach/Rev Counter came out of my 1973 RS. The date code is 8/73. Does anyone know what car this Tach/Rev Counter would have come out of? Thanks for the help!

It has the early type of mounting studs so for a pre 1970 application?

No partnumber in the upper area of the dial?

Where exactly would I look? I am not sure about a Pre 70 application as the date code appears to be 8/73?

It could be a later production spare part (produced 8/73) or someone as built it on an earlier case.

Can you spot how many "Imp" it says on the backside of it? 24000 30000?

See attached photo for part number location

first photos show 30000 imp, looks like it's likely the real deal.....I've seen many date stamped units that are after 1973 but still have the mounting studs so they can be mounted into 1968-69 cars, as well as racing applications. The silkscreening is bright-white, not the ivory that a 1969 911 would have.

great piece, thanks for sharing it with us, the patina is fabulous.

The car is originally an Italian car but went to Japan in the early 80's. There they did a semi restoration and brought the car to be Japan driving legal with seats, seat belts, passenger mirror and even electric windows and including the Speedometer with the red lines past the national speed limit. So we are guessing the Tach/Rev Counter was installed along with the other items when in Japan. Name: 1973 Porsche RS Japanese Speedometer_04.13.21.jpg

    Found the Part Number

I was able to find the part number didn't realize it was so small. The part number on my Tach-Rev Counter is 911 641 304 00.

So what car would this be for with an 8/73 production date?

    Thanks for help.

8/73 is for a 74 car and as you have been advised most likely an RSR, nice find.
