    Recaro IdealSitz-S Help Needed

    Hi,

My 1973 911 currently is fitted with Recaro comfort seats and I have just purchased a set of Recaro IdealSitz-S sports seats.

I am unsure of how to fit them and wondered if anyone can offer any advice. Unfortunately the seats did not come with any sliders so have posted a wanted ad here http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...542#post916542

I do not understand the seat adjuster that makes the seat go backwards and forwards in the slider. Looking at other threads the standard Recaro Sports seats did not have the adjuster arm in the seat, it was on the base. Looking at these on the Rose Passion site they include the mechanism in the slider, however the originals do not.

If I cannot get the original sliders can anyone advise what slider and base I can buy to fit the seats?

Also I do not know how to attach the seat belts. Can I use the right angled seat belt bracket that is fitted to my comfort seats ?

I hope these questions make sense.

    Thanks for looking

    Hi Mike

So you got the seats you said you were thinking about buying. Great stuff. Does this mean I can look forward to another trip to Alan's Canford Classics for his next open day in even more comfort? Better take the salad for lunch at RMYA Sandbanks next time ... else I might not fit in the more snug seats for the return journey!

I'm sure you will get some great advice on correct fittings from knowledgable folks here.

    Hi,

From my wanted ad I now have the sliders for my seats (Thanks Recaro)

Can anyone tell me how to attach the seat belts, do I need this base? From the picture I can see a bracket that I assume for seat belt fittings.

If this is the correct base does anyone have one for sale? If not is there an alternative?

    Many thanks

    Mike

from what i know the seats are not tilting, you can only regulate the back..... sorry for my poor english, so you need the above base but tilting..... the seat belts shoub be fitted in the tilting bases as the normal seats .... i have the idealsitz in my car but being a swb 69 i have the belts fitted behind the seats .... can show you some pictures this evening

To give an update, I managed to buy some bases today that fit my seats. Interestingly the ideal-s seats must be wider than standard Recaro sports seats. As the width where the sliders mount to the base are approximately 45cm wide, whereas the standard sports seats I believe are approximately 38.5cm.

With regards to seat belt mounting I am still unsure how this is done, I am hoping that Steve will add his picture to this thread.

Here is a picture I found of a ideal-s seat with the seat belt receiver attached to the recliner. I do not know if it is correct or not. Any ideas?

It's a matter of Year and Model. Normal Aftermarket seats and 67-68 Seats and Idealsitz S all with the sliders on the seat have a spacing of 405mm between the sliders.
Those seats are not compatible to the brackets for the later seats where the slider is at the bracket.
There are also seats and Brackets which have 345 mm spacing between the sliders.

Thanks for the information. Very interesting.

Also do you have any ideas about the seat belt mounts?

Are you selling the original seats that you've replaced?
