A few from the Tour itself..........I parked along Seventeen-mile Drive and snapped a few of the cars passing.

The rest are from the Lunch Stop on Ocean Ave. in Carmel where the cars are staged for free public viewing, and then driven back to the Equestrian Center for storage until the Sunday Concours.

    Another set from Ocean Ave.

Photo #6 shows the Tour participants enjoying a fine catered lunch in the local park on Ocean.......very civilized.

    Another set on Ocean.

Photos # 1 & 2 show an attractive, young and talented artist who set up shop in the middle of the crowded street to sketch and paint a couple of the exhibited cars. I watched her work for an extended time and observed very few folks stepping in front of her to take photos with their stupid iphones or Go-Pros on selfie-sticks, and if they did stop and snap one or two off quickly they would profusely apologize and excuse themselves - the same shitheads would see me, look me straight in the eyes and aggressively park their fat arses right between my camera and the cars as if I didn't exists and take their sweet time about moving out of the way - if they ever even did that much. Far worse than at any other event or venue during the entire week.....admittedly, she's a lot prettier than I am, but whatever happened to basic civility and consideration.

A few more of the cars stopped on Ocean, and the shows them staring to leave with a police escort to go 'back to the barn'.

There is a fault on the "sticker" on the nose on the Ferrari (250 GT SWB?).
    It was the LYON-CHARBONNIERES-STUTTGART-SOLITUDE rallye.
I suppose this is the car that won this race, in 1962, with Henri Oreiller/Jean Charron.

Thank you again for the pictures and your texts.

The final set of images from this year's Tour d'Elegance.

Sorry if this chapter conveys the impression of a half-ass attempt to tell thye story, but for a multitude of reasons this year's edition just did not go according to plan for me. Lousy light, too few cars, way too many people, oppressive security arrangements that prevented anyone interested in photography to occupy their favored & preferred places where the cars would show their best sides........and to top it all off, my back was killing me from all the walking and the up & down on one knee for my preferred shooting position. My heart just wasn't in this event and I'm afraid it shows.........I promise to try much harder for the remaining events.

Photo # 6 - one of the boutiques on Ocean had a professional model strut around showing off their wares during the lunch stop, but I think all it accomplished was to get all the local policemen to gather around her and neglect crowd control.

Last photo - this all-electric, plug-in Corvette with its powertrain built & installed by an aftermarket company was allowed to tag along with the Tour. I have never seen commercial interests and / or concept cars allowed to take part in the Tour before......something new ?

The Friday Werks Reunion is next.

Couldn't agree more (on all points; that's one pretty young lady!). I've avoided the Ocean Ave. lunch stop since about year three of the existence of the Tour. Given the level of civility our culture has sunken to, I found it ironic that an example of Mussolini's car of state, that bulbous Lancia Astura, won Best of Show. Shit-heads indeed. If we really[I] wanted to make America great again, it would have gone to the Best of Show nominee '31 Stutz DV32 DOHC straight-8 LeBaron convertible victoria (Elegance in Motion Trophy winner), or my personal favorite, the '32 Auburn 12-160A V-12 Speedster, an all-American design attributed to Alan H Leamy of Cord-Auburn-Duesenberg (Most Elegant Open Car winner), both imposing performance cars of great rarity.
