    Horn button help

My 65 came with an old Racemark steering wheel w nice patina. Problem is I am obviously missing some part of the horn button. I tried ordering a MOMO button but it is too small. I may try to do some "customization" to it. Can any of you wheel experts help me w what is missing. Also the new button has two wires vs only one on old. I'm guessing there needs to be some sort of grounded contact to creat a switch effect when the new button is pressed. Anyhow, here are the pics.

To retain your button on the wheel you can try the "Momo Horn Button Retainer Ring".
Google it and you will find many options. It's less than $10 so even if it doesn't work you are not taking a huge risk!

Racemark wheels use Nardi buttons, not Momos

    Jim,

The "Momo Horn Button Retainer Ring" is made to fit a Momo horn button to a Nardi wheel. At least this is what I did to fit a Momo button on my Nardi wheel.

Since Racemark wheels use Nardi buttons (as Nardi does) I was just assuming that this retainer ring should work to fit a Momo button.

I am not aware of such a thing. The MoMo ring has holes for a MoMo wheel that are different than for a Nardi Wheel. Old Racemark wheels do not use a retainer ring. The button just goes up against the hub. The MoMo button ring is drilled for a MoMo wheel and won't go on a Nardi hub. There may well be an adapter ring that I am not aware of, though.

    Regards

Well, I have ordered one of the Momo Horn Button Retainer Rings off Ebay so I guess we will see. Not sure what the other options are, but if anyone does please let me know.

This ring looks similar to the one I have between my Momo button and my Nardi wheel

As you can see the button is too small to fit without the ring

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

OK, now I get it. You use a rat tail file on a MoMo part and it sort of fits on a Racemark wheel.

    Ciao

All, yes I figured a little customization might be required but what do I do with the tab that is sticking out. Obviously it is the ground but does it not get in the way of the horn button itself? Or does it just get bent down and out of the way?
