Hi Thomas, to follow up Mike 210's question, could any of the early Swedish S's have been RHD as you understand it? Best wishes and many thanks, Robert
The Swedisch Parliament took the decision in 1963 to switch on September 3, 1967. By that time approx. 90% were LHD cars in Sweden. LHD cars had always been the majority. A good article on this: https://www.volvoclub.org.uk/history...on_right.shtml
My early 1964 delivered 356 and my early September 1966 delivered 911S, were both delivered in Sweden via Scania Vabis and both LHD. Chances for a RHD in Sweden are very small: LHD was the rule, RHD the exception.
307844S, born early 1967, delivered in Wiesbaden, went to US in 1986 and lived
there 40 years, Duthweiler/Cabiglio/Riding, then imported back to Germany,
sold to a belgian collector with collection in Germany and from this collector
it went in my garage.
After an intense 6 month survivor preservation project, 307844S is ready for the next 54 years
and still show 80% first paint, metal was in unbelievable good condition at the underneath and
the suspension, engine, etc. got a new lease on life and perhaps i will start a thread
about this full matching survivor but first here are some pics.
First is in the 90ties and was sent to me by Sam Cabiglio, than at classic dealer Thomas Janzen,
the collector and finally actual pics from me.
That’s a very nice one. Enjoy it!
It was probably 30 years int the US, not 40?
Survivors are particularly interesting as a reference.
The location of the antenna is strange for a model 1967.
Maybe the interior mirror has been replaced in the past (black plastic backside)?
Stunning car, would love to see more pictures!
We iceblasted the underneath and there was only that one antenna hole
and it seems to be the first, and antenne key and instruction still with
the original guarantee booklet.
Mirror isn‘t black, it‘s chrom.
40 years, was sold 2008 to Germany.
Greetings Christian
Re antenna: it is normally at the drivers’ side between the A style and the fender joining panel for a 1967 model. In eg 1969 your location was more the standard.
Re mirror: back should be black plastic for a 911s model 1967, yours is chrome
Re US: 2008-1986: 22 years US, not 40
Could you post more pictures? Apart from the mirror and antenna location, I consider yours as reference.
Thanks!
