    More Parade, 2014 . . .

    More 917/10K . . .

Not conventionally pretty . . . more like menacing --- frightening, almost. Definitely other-worldly

    Visually similar to the subsequent /30 . . . missing only the longer rear body-work, the inter-coolers housed there --- the /10K has none . . .

    . . . and, oh . . . about 600 HP

    Yiiiiiiiikes!

    906 . . .

    . . . bka Carrera 6

    F Piëch's first 'clean sheet' project. Tube-framed w/ just a kiss of fiberglass = 580 kg/1300 lbs

I own furniture that weighs more

Not fragile; one o' these won the Targa overall in '66

Also --- Porsche's last street-legal (gulp!) race car

American Racing, huh? Snazzy . . . but better suited/fitted 'cause the Old Skool steel-cum-alu GT wheels cost the Earth . . . or have long-since disappeared from

906 was not clean sheet. Ferry mandated it use the spare 904 suspension parts (much to Piech's dismay) they had ordered already, thinking it would have a longer lifetime than Piech would give it. 906/10 was the first clean sheet in that it used a new suspension, based on an F1 Lotus (hence the 13" wheels). They did actually use spare Lotus uprights on the first hillclimb car. I am going to butcher the name but I think it was Oillon-Villars.

That is the first time I have ever heard that the 917 frame was permanently pressurized. There were certain tubes carrying oil that would be pressurized, but as far as I know the rest of the tubes were only pressurized after the race to check for cracks, although mostly they just built new chassis for each race anyway so why worry about it? A pressure gage on a race car frame is more likely to cause a crack from its mass vibrating on a welded bung. And really, they would never pull a car out of the lead for a tiny crack that could cause a pressure drop but not affect the structural integrity much at all.

I suppose the same be said for the engine . . .

    . . . seat upholstery

Or the Uncle? --- who took Volkswagen power-trains + contraband aluminum to conjure-up cars in a saw mill

904 bits, indeed --- and yet . . . look at the two

    A year apart --- generationally consecutive . . . . . . . . and cosmically different

    One --- still the Son's car . . . born 4-cam

    The Other? . . . . not
