Wondered if anyone else on early911S has come across Robert Levick, under the forum name Speciall? I have recently tried to purchase some goods from this gentleman and I am having trouble obtaining the items that I have paid for.

Robert Levick wanted me to send him money to his wife via Money Gram. Since I have never sent money via Money Gram, he even provided me places close to my home where I could go to purchase the money gram!
Well, after reading these posts, and some PM's to others, I've decided to post this guys scam here as well as Mark111.

One indication of scammers to me is their poor use of English, sometimes it's good but never native tongue. And wanting bank transfers or western union. I always offer to collec the parts or have a close by " friend " do so. May they rot in 5hit for the rest of their days.
Okay, here is my contribution to this thread, Mr. Robert Levick has also emailed me wanting to contact me and asking for my telephone number. I'm all over it! :D

With that in mind I don't put a lot of faith in most "internet" merchants until they prove themselves. I had a really bad experience last year with an Ebay hustler who was selling a purported "all original motorcycle". He feigned "straight up" but I never got the warm and fuzzy feeling. Because of that I actually drove 6 hours and spent $200 in fuel plus my co-driver's pay to inspect the item before purchasing it. In retrospect the idea of a "non-refundable" deposit should have been a STOP NOW but that was his "leverage" to allow the winning bidder to buy the item and in retrospect a guaranteed profit regardless of the outcome.
Upon arrival and waiting for and hour and a half for him to show I inspected the piece and immediately realized it was far from the description. The pictures he had taken were as bad as any "Vaseline on the lens" Hollywood close-ups.
The paint wasn't "all original" and had been touched up with a brush at least 2 inches wide. It was advertised "as is where is" and I knew it did not run but have bought many in the same state, however, he had conveniently left out the fact that the kick start mechanism was broken. This section in a transmission costs a minimum of $1,000 to repair. In the ad he claimed it kicked through "smoothly". Baldface lie as the engine couldn't make a half a revolution in its condition. In fact the kick start lever was bent and cracked from somebody attempting to "jam it through" to get a full rotation.
After pointing out this and the hidden dents and scratches (not shown in photos) and paint brush repairs on the frame I suggested that a negotiation on price was in order. He became a very different person becoming quite agitated and over-reacting as if I had called his mother a bad name. Then he had the audacity to accuse me of wasting time and it was "all my fault for not asking questions". I wasted time? 6 hours one way?
Before he got any angrier my co-driver and I made a retreat to the truck and trailer. We were in the boonies and didn't think further discussions were going to get us anywhere but a fist fight or worse. After getting home I asked for my deposit but as of yet no joy from him or PayPal.
The final kicker is that I left negative feedback to which he never responded. He did, however leave a pretty shoddy opinion of me in his new ad.

Funny thing, but I remember reading a long time ago that scammers/gypsies commonly used the last name of Johnson ( no offense to any real Johnsons out there) not to mention he had two different Gmail accounts.
Same Johnson scammer replied to my WTB '68 fuel/oil lever gauge ad and sends me pic of some late model gauge.
Here's his reply:

This a-hole is a scammer.
He replied to my WTB post for 9x15 Fuchs, used google images from old posts for his pictures (got the first pictures wrong, using 7x15's) and required direct money transfer payment.
Hopefully the mods here will ban this low life.

R901.104.305.02. This set of cylinder heads will need to be rebuilt

There are no cracks or any major defects. The intake valves measure
42mm and the exhaust valves measure 38mm. The valve seats are in very

Don't know if moderators would complain. Can tell you he uses gmail. I reported through Google Chrome and asked them to turn information over to his local police, whoever they may be. As an aside, anybody got '67S heads?

Scammers have been attacking our WTB ads. You need to be watchful and vigilant in terms of protecting your money and online identity...
What To Do
Know who you’re dealing with.
Try to find a seller’s physical address (not just a P.O. Box) and phone number. With internet phone services and other web-based technologies, it’s tough to tell where someone is calling from. Do an internet search for the company name and website, and look for negative reviews. If you find them, you’ll have to decide if the offer is worth the risk. Understand that wiring money is like sending cash.

Don’t agree to deposit a check and wire money back.

Don’t reply to messages asking for personal or financial information.
That goes whether the message comes as an email, a phone call, a text message, or an ad. Don’t click on links or call phone numbers included in the message, either. It’s called phishing. The crooks behind these messages are trying to trick you into revealing sensitive information. If you got a message like this and you are concerned about your account status, call the number on your credit or debit card — or your statement — and check on it.

From a WTB ad I placed last month in this forum for a 'Late Marelli' TP distributor, this idiot reaches out to me saying he has one. After asking for photos and price, this fine example of society emails me photos from my own website, parts I posted I used to own. I'm not posting all of the non-essential details, but I will post some of his emails, contact and banking information. He's overseas, each time I responded there was a consistent 12 hour or so delay to my replies.
The "Hello buddy" salutation was probably the first dead giveaway for me...

His emails were convoluted English. Sent a photo of two Fuchs wheels for sale at $1000 he'd pay shipping........hmmm.......too good to be true?
After further inquiries in which he claimed to have owned a 79S and sent me a photo of an 84 Carrera with foreign license plates parked next to the ocean even though he claimed to be in Crawfordville, Indiana, my last email to him asked him to send me a photo of the wheels, with today's front page from any paper in the photo and also with him in the photo.
Oh and now he's willing to take a cashiers check, mailed to his wife's address. Googled his wife's name and no one by the name of Michael Allen shows up as a relative plus she's had some "interesting" previous home locations.
Beware!
When I was in law school our contracts professor, who by the way had worked his way through law school playing trumpet in a jazz band in the 30's, always said "if it's too good to be true, it probably is"
I'd laugh about "Michael Allen" but some poor slugs somewhere are going to get taken in by his cons.

I think a scammer emerged after my wtb post
I just got a reply to my ad for oil lines. Nice pictures of the lines, low price. I used Google to search the picture and it found them on old listings in Ebay and a parts dealer.
Good to check the pictures.
I’ve just had a PM from someone with zero posts responding to my WTB, claiming they have the 100l fuel tank instrument cluster for ‘72 T/E/S which is a rare as hens teeth but claims they can’t post any pictures of it on here and wants me to contact him by email. Not likely!

and he shows up several places replying to WTB aids
