FS: PUDENZ Fuse Pack Reproduction for Tool Kits Now Available
Those who have read my key pouch thread within the past month know that I’ve been thinking of beginning another Porsche related project. Recently, I’ve been interested in reproducing small, relatively inexpensive items for Porsches that are desirable but extremely hard to find; the key pouches are a prime example of this type of part.
Reading through this BBS a few weeks ago I noticed a few threads on ‘PUDENZ’ fuse packs. Doing some research on the 356 Registry BBS I found that Porsche began the change from a paper box of 10 identical Pudenz fuses to the small, clear plastic pack of 5 assorted amp fuses in late 1963 for the 1964 356 model year. I’m not sure when Porsche stopped issuing the plastic pack of 5 fuses but my father’s ‘78 SC (bought new by him in late ’77) was supplied with one. It began falling apart that year and he put it in his sock drawer to preserve it (see below).
It is probably safe to say then that all early 911’s, 912’s and 914’s (along with some 356’s and post ’73 Porsches) were delivered new with a clear plastic pack of 5 Pudenz brand fuses... many of which are now only shards of plastic after 40+ years. There is some debate as to where in the car they were placed (glovebox or in the toolkit) but I’ll leave that to the concours experts. It also seems likely that this pack of fuses was included as a part of the optional travel kit placed in an additional vinyl maroon pouch.
I feel the price should be right around $25 per pack w/ fuses included. So, is anyone interested in an exact duplicate of a ‘PUDENZ’ fuse pack at this price?
If so, I intend to draw and produce a mold for the bottom ‘tray’ portion of the pack, draw the red graphics to create a ‘rub on transfer’ be placed on the top, source the correct plastic material and find the correct Pudenz brand fuses. I have a bit of a schedule in front of me but there’s no reason I shouldn’t make quick work of it if there is sufficient interest… so please let me know if you need/want one of these fuse packs for your car.
