Is there any documentation about the early engine plating? Would like to get it correct for 900256.

I think the air ducts next to the 250mm fan have these round 90 degree fixation points to fit on the 64 chain houses:

Any other weird details for the early engines?
When I did an early 911R engine with all the 906 valve covers, chain cases, covers and date codes in the 65’s, there was a lot of clear zinc plating. I guess I expected more yellow zinc. So I copied what I saw. The 906 chain case on the right side also had the 90* lateral mounting.
I have no documentation but I would expect the majority if not most to be clear zinc
Sorry I meant engine tin, the black power coated tin around the engine :-)

Almost gloss but not quite. Kinda semi-gloss. It's hard to get it just right.

I was told “60%” black powder paint where 60% was the degree of gloss. I was skeptical, but it was spot on.Quote:

I mean feature of the engine tin itself. Were there differences for the early engines as compared to for example the engine tin of the 1965 engines?
Glasurit 22 line Rally mat black. 22-PT 9051M, also 22-1250-M (old nr.) Use it on suspension parts too.
And the differences in shape and size of the engine tin?
I like the Rally black for the dash. For suspension and engine I feel it is not glossy enough
