I just don't buy it. The kardex hand written on looks wrong. Note how the number 1 is written on the kardex with a down leg to the left. Very suspicious IMO
The handwritten note, clearly of english/US character (the 1 is never written as that in German) was once discussed in a thread about the meaning of R.S...which stands for Rundschreiben. I was part of the discussion.
Since then, indeed the Deluxe model existed, as updated 66 leftovers models. It was also concluded that similar handwritten style on Deluxe models kardex -even its odd- might was indeed period, but certainly added at a later state.
Nevertheless, the car's RS designation is confusing as it has nothing to do with the RS (Rennsport) 2.7l models but simply it has a R.S. "Rundschreiben" note on its kardex, a dealer info that stated the Deluxe models as a late solution to sell 911 models before the introduction of the newer 67S models.
Whatever this car offers or has or not has, the RS is wrongly used and misleading.
If they really want to use the RS because its looks so appealing, they should write R.S. as seen in its kardex.
Karim said it well. This car has NOTHING to do with a 73RS but it was advertised as if it was of the same lineage. An RS was a stripped down lightweight street car with a big motor that could be driven on the track. The deluxe was a dolled up street car in full trim with a normal motor to keep the price down. This car should have been brought back to the stock configuration as a simple "Deluxe 911" and it would be worth more than it is now. Seller could have called it the prototype 911E as that is what it was closer to - a deluxe trim car with a lower cost engine. Porsche surely did not put those flares on the car. The front fenders are from a Long Wheel Base car and they were not invented for a few more years after this car was built. The rear fenders are stock SWB with with Long Wheel Base flares added by an amateur, the passenger side is put on very crooked by the way. Sure you will say they were hand built but so were the 73RS and 930s and none of them have crooked fender flares. Further the engine was NOT built to S spec by Porsche, the type number is 901/05 which designates a Solex cam 9.0:1 compression engine. Even the very first prototype 911S engine 960001 had a type number 901/02.Quote:

MY Kardex has a note written across it with "RS" within the message, and I was told by others that it was simply a general document created by the factory, or a notice of some sort. Correct?

Now and as shown on another thread started by member Henderson on those Deluxe models, the R.S. (sometimes RS) handwritten note on some kardex means "RundSchreiben" ie "circular note" ie a note which is transmitted to other dealers or people aimed or member of a circle. Its an internal factory note indicating technical or equipment updates. It was in use for all kind of information on all models, including 912'.
If imo someone wants to do his homework correct when selling a 911Deluxe, he rather uses R.S. for an internal written info on a paper kardex, since anyhow the car model itself is known today simply as 911Deluxe.
911RS is widely known as another car model, the 1973 911RS.

I was wondering why it has the 356 type Golde sunroof with the sunroof motor and transmission in front of the roof. They also installed the same set-up with a manual crank like the VW bugs had. Any one know if it is an electric or manual sunroof?
How happy would the high bidder be to read this thread?!
