I’m pretty sure my 71T has the vent line up near the cap. You can see it in the filler door.
Anybody 2nd that motion? ;o)

This is a 1971T, built in 10/70 non-karmann.

Perfecto! Makes sence... I just saw the cap that's on mine matches with the years it fits.
The other cap is a screw-on (for newer years). Awesome guys! Thanks.
Do you know where that rubber hose drains too?
(The one with the gold clamp on). On my '71 it
looks like it does not go to the inside trunk area.
1971 ROW had no vent line
This is the venting. This connects to a t which splits between the tank in the cowl and the tank in the fender. The lines from the back of car push air to the carbon canister which then vents back to the engine intake. I suspect a Venturi effect sucks air from the fender canister to the back of the car through the carbon canister.
I have all this evap on my us 71 with carbs and it isn’t stinky.
I’m dropping an efi motor in so will mod it a bit to just be a fuel tank vent.
