I have a set of the new 3 mm larger tube SSI's and a set of SSI's that look the same but with the smaller tubes. In the last couple of months I got Covid and my shop space got sold. I was hoping to get some video's out 3 months ago. I will be doing 2 videos for Soren in the next 60 days or so. One is a reveal and the other is a fitment to a SC case 3.2 and muffler. The engine will have S cam RSR sized MFI. The engine is being built by Steve Rowe here in Denver. Soren asked me to do this as I have no skin in the 6 cylinder game.
This is a one of for me as my interest is in POLO engine cars. When it is installed, I will try and get closeups of the fit.
If possible I'll have it all chasse dynoed when done. Bare in mind, we are at 5200 to 6000 feet. The car will end up in Kansas City.
What's the part number for the large SSI's? The 3.2 ones? Thanks
The new large tube ones are 91.911 SSI-41. They look like the ones pictured, but with larger tubes. The metal has a satin not polished finish like the pair pictured.
JP Group website has them as Part #1623106810 and 91.917SSI41. Online search shows me no one has them for sale in the US. Where did you get yours?
I was sent this set from JP Group. They want pictures/video of the exchanger fit to the engine and to the muffler. The engine is being built at this time. I hope to have pictures and video in the next 30 days.
Ok, thanks. Looking forward to see the fit and finish. They look to be thick flange right?
Those are thin flange, for sure
On the website they show thick and the ones Chris shows in the picture I don't believe are the actual ones. Is this right Chris?
The one in the picture with the MFI induction and green fan shroud is a new big tube exchanger. The other exchangers pictured are a set that I took off a 2.4 MFI engine we sold. Those high polished SSI's only have 150 to 200 miles on them. But what I will tell you is the new ones look like the polished pictured set but with bigger tubes. As I only have the one picture, I blew it up. So this fuzzy picture is all I have tell I do the videos. They look well made. We'll see about fitment when the engine is done.
