who made these vehicles?
I know test mules were disguised many ways, but that was a truly ungainly looking 928! The shot of the entire drivetrain on wooden horses is fascinating. Are these shots dated?
I do not know. In the link that you leave there may be some information. These "mules" who made them?
These are very early 928 prototypes, around 1973/74.
The pictures are from the book "Project 928" which is a must have to understand the conception of the 928.
Before them, there was a MB 350 SL based mule and an Opel Admiral, used to work on the Weissach rear axle and three modified Audi 100 Coupes.
The Opel had a second steering wheel on the back!

About the Audi's:
https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-cul...udi-100-coupe/
The best 928 mules were the Audi 100 Coupe S that the made wider. they were scrapped. Scrapyard was Adalbert Rohn a well known name in Stuttgarts Classic Car community
From my point of view I am interested in the preparation of "the sheet" in these vehicles with reference to the preparation of my car. Not wanting to distort this post ... I'm going to investigate mules :) It seems like a fun post. Thank you all for the information!!

[/ QUOTE]

Yes, but he died perhaps two or three years ago

He died in 2012 if what I found online is correct.
And the company closed in 2002, it seems:

I suppose that it will impossible to learn if the company scrapped a particular car, in this case.
If the destruction of the last Audi 100/928 is confirmed, this is really a sad news for me.
built in Weissach during the 70s onwards, started in Zuffenhausen with the 901 program. usually 3-4 separate departments were involved building them.
umm does anyone know where they come from or where you can get better image quality? I am interested in seeing in detail the construction of the headlights and I have not found the original image. Do they belong to Porsche itself?
The pictures are from Julius Weitmann, and it seems that Auto Motor und Sport owns the archives of this great photographer.
I don't know how to collect the pictures from them.
okay, I'm going to see if I see something by name, precious data" salds
I found it interesting to post this here.
