Wonder what would happen if somebody put these in a 912 for better weight balance. I understand there will be some power loss from extra weight but the balance would be improved. If they were enough to help with tail swinging out in a 911, what would be the net effect with a better weight distribution in a 912?
I didn’t think it was an issue with 912s because there’s not as much weight at the rear and they certainly don’t have as much power, the 912 is a better balanced car. But why not stop by and pick up my weights, put them on your 912 and let us know.
Someone should do a modern day driving test - SWB 911 with weights and without. See if there is a noticeable difference in handling. I’ve always taken them out but found only 20% of the SWB 911 I’ve come in contact with still have them.
I will have the weight installed in my 912 chassis when the Polo engine will be on board. The issue with the weight is really mostly noticable at speeds above 140km/h as the front does get some lift, which will increase with speed.
the steering wheel is getting super light and being held with „gentle care&lightness“….
some drivers do feel anxious about getting faster!
