I have a set of locking hinges from the driver side that are in restored, Concours perfect condition that I would be willing to trade for a set of non-locking ones in like condition. When I restored '065 I didn't remember that the driver side is non-locking and I used '68 hinges. Send me a PM if you wish to discuss.

To continue the 1968 MY comfort seat hinge confusion:
I have a 10/67 build seat set without headrest with beige/grey plastic covers and grey transverse bar on both seats.
A later 01/68 build seat set with headrest with black plastic covers and black transverse bar on both seats.
The 10/67 and 01/68 seat sets are both diver side non-locking seatbacks.
Did the plastic cover color correlate with the headrest or US/ROW or a production switch date or?
Did the color of the transverse bar correlate with the cover or what?
Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Ludovic,
Thank you for your pictures out of your 10/67 car.
I assume your seats are non headrest seats or?

Indeed, they were without headrests, but the guy who I bought the car add them.
Best regards

After checking several seats from different members/non members of the ESR I come to following conclusion:
Model year 1968:
-pre head rest comfort seats have grey plastic covers (left and right) and grey-zink cross bars
-head rest comfort seats have black covers on both sides and black painted cross bar
Both seat typs have a non locking back of the drivers seat in non US cars.

Headrests were mandated for all cars in the US on Jan 1, 1968. Along with the headrests were a bunch of other safety items, including locking seatbacks on both seats, dashboard padding, soft knobs in all dashes and door handles and window crank handles, 3 point seatbelts for the driver and passenger in the front seats and "breakaway" rear view mirrors. If your car was delivered after 1,1,1968 in the US it had all of the previous items. ROW cars, not so much.
