High praise for from a talented driver for a first series RHD 73 Carrera RS Touring
Interesting verdict from the only man to win world championships on both two wheels and on four, the late great John Surtees who hopefully with seven motorcycle world championships plus a Formula One drivers’ world championship win with Scuderia Ferrari in the Enzos era shouldn’t really need an introduction even to younger folks*
Not sure if this extract (subset of pages from a wider article) has been posted here before — obviously not a new comparison test but couldn't see it in a search of forum so here it is:

Gordon Bruce the RS long term owner was for most of my impressionable youth the road test editor of a very respected British motoring weekly Motor. When we last spoke he told me he had finally sold the 73 RS. In addition to Surtees positive comments it’s quite telling that Bruce a mechanical engineer turned journalist who drove countless makes and models to write and edit weekly road tests in the very informative often quite analytical data rich style of the era — he started in road test role in 1971– chose to spend his own money by adding it to a home purchase mortgage in order to own a used RS and then kept the car for decades is further high praise of the 73 RS model.
While most everyone thinks they’re a “driving god and have opinions on what constitute a great drivers car the truth is some viewpoints carry more weight than others :)
